Holy Hemi Batman.....Its a Boss 429! 1960's Ford drag racer Al Joniec was well known for his crazy "Batcar" A/FX Mustangs in 1965 and '66, and for his 1968 Cobra Jet Mustang SS/E Winternationals win. But Al also ran a Super Stock/Pro Stock '69 Boss 429. The Big Boss knocked down a 9.98 @ 143-mph with a fiberglass hood, fenders, trunk lid, doors and front bumper. It also had a modified chassis and front drum brakes to save weight and drag. Joe Spenelli now owns the Boss and is currently finishing up on a three year restoration on it. The car will be reunited with Al Joniec next July at the York US-30 Drag Car Reunion in York, PA. This is a Images Unlimited photo of the Boss at Atco Drag Strip in 1969. (9-24-05)
